Sayou ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Sayou mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following personal information to provide our service:

Birth information: Year, month, day, and hour of birth, used to calculate your saju (four pillars) chart.
Gender: Used for chart calculation (saju charts differ by gender for certain cycle directions).
Email address: Used for account creation, authentication, and service communications.
Chat messages: Questions and conversations you send to our AI counseling service.
Push notification tokens: Device tokens for delivering timing alerts and message notifications.
Device information: Device identifiers for account management and analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

Calculate and generate your personalized saju chart and origin reading.
Provide AI based counseling responses to your questions.
Send personalized timing alerts based on your chart.
Process payments for subscription services.
Improve our service through anonymized usage analytics.
Send transactional emails (verification, password reset).

3. Third Party Service Providers

We share data with the following categories of service providers, only as necessary to operate our service:

AI language model provider: Your chat messages and reflection responses are sent to an AI provider to generate counseling responses. Messages are not used to train third party models.
Payment processor: Subscription payments are processed through Apple's App Store and Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.
Subscription management: We use RevenueCat to validate in-app purchases and manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous account identifier and purchase information, not your birth details or chat content.
Analytics provider: We use a third party product analytics provider (PostHog) to understand aggregate, de-identified usage patterns and improve the Service. We do not send your chat content or reading text to our analytics provider.
Cloud database provider: Your data is stored on secure, encrypted cloud database infrastructure.
Email service: Transactional emails (verification, password reset) are sent through a third party email provider.

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide our services. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days of receiving the request. Some data may be retained longer if required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention, legal compliance).

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information (e.g., edit your birth details in the app).
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
Data portability: Request your data in a structured, machine readable format.
Opt out: Disable push notifications or timing alerts at any time through the app settings.

Right to opt out: We do not sell personal information. There is no need to opt out of a sale.

7. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS.
Authentication tokens are used to secure API access.
Passwords are cryptographically hashed and never stored in plain text.

Saju readings, chart analyses, and AI counseling responses provided by Sayou are for personal reflection and self awareness purposes only. They are based on traditional East Asian four pillar chronological analysis and do not constitute professional advice of any kind, including but not limited to financial, legal, medical, or psychological advice. You should not make important life decisions based solely on information provided by our service.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or through the app. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
